Andreas Eriksson



Born in 1975 in Björsäter, Sweden, Andreas Eriksson presently lives in Medelplana, on the south bank of Lake Vänern, Sweden. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm.



Although he works mainly with painting, inspired by the nature around his studio, he also makes sculptures, tapestries and photographs. His introspective, poetic, work is based in his everyday experience of nature and his domestic environment.

Important solo shows include the Skissernas Museum, Lund, Sweden (2017), Lidköpings Konsthall, Lidköping, Sweden (2013), MUMOK, Vienna (2008), Trondheims Art Museum (2005) and Nordiska akvarellmuseet, Skärhamn, Sweden (2005).  Eriksson represented Sweden at the Venice Biennale in 2011, and participated at the Sao Paulo Biennal, Brazil (2012) and at the 5th Nordic Biennale of Contemporary Art, Norway (2009). He was awarded the Baloise Art Prize in 2007, the Carnegie Art Award, one of the world’s largest art awards, in 2012, and a Sten A Olssons Foundation award in 2015. Andreas Eriksson is represented in the collections of the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo, Norway; the Louisiana Museum, Humlebæk, Denmark; Astra Zeneca, Lund, Sweden; ECB, Frankfurt, Germany; the Göteborgs Konstmuseum; Moderna Museet, Sweden; MUMOK, Vienna, Austria and the Centre Pompidou, Paris, France among others.
