Adel Abdessemed

Adel Abdessemed has produced, in close collaboration with Cahiers d’Art, a series of digital prints in 2016.

The series of three large archival pigment prints depicts an owl, a deer and a pigeon, around which an explosive is attached. These prints are reminiscent of the artist’s video entitled Printemps, which shows chickens on fire. The violence, which is very present in the artist’s work, is a confrontation that breaks with norms. According to Abdessemed: “It’s the world that is violent, not me”.

The series is signed and numbered. Four leaves make up the Deer and the Pigeon, adding a monumental dimension to the violence of the work.
