Catalogues Raisonnés

Writing the history of art in detail is one of the major missions of Cahiers d’Art. Three projects for catalogues raisonnés have been published to date: the catalogue raisonné of the work of Pablo Picasso, initiated by Christian Zervos, and also known as the “Zervos,” remains the most reliable reference on Picasso’s artistic production. It is a complete catalogue of his paintings and drawings, presenting more than 16,000 images in thirty-three volumes.

Ellsworth Kelly is also the subject of a catalogue raisonné: edited by the specialist Yve-Alain Bois, this multi-volume publication contains exhaustive documentation on each of Kelly’s paintings, sculptures and reliefs. Cahiers d’Art is also preparing Frank Gehry’s catalogue raisonné of drawings: eight planned volumes will critically present the architect’s entire oeuvre. The first volume and has already been published: it includes scholarly texts and superior images of individual works and preparatory drawings.
